CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Three pitchers combined on a five-hitter and West Essex opened with a 4-0 baseball victory over Cedar Grove on Saturday.

Starting pitcher Oliver Ortman allowed three hits in five innings, striking out three and walking three, and Anthony Vassallo allowed two hits and struck out two in 1 2/3 innings before David Kolesar got the final out for the Knights.

West Essex scored one run in the first inning and two more in the second inning. Max Ruvo delivered an RBI triple for West Essex, which was also limited to five total hits.
