NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - West Essex scored all its runs in the first three innings and went on to a 9-4 baseball victory over Montclair-Kimberley Academy on Saturday.
Zac Balz and Ian McLaughlin each drove in three runs for West Essex (5-3), which scored four times in the bottom of the third inning to take a 9-3 lead. Balz had three hits in four at-bats and McLaughlin went 2-for-3. Scott Barlow had two hits and scored a run.
McLaughlin scattered eight hits in six innings pitched to earn the victory. He struck out six and allowed three earned runs. Anthony Vassallo pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
