NEWARK, NJ - The West Essex baseball team scored in every inning but the second and went on to a 9-4 victory over Bloomfield Tech on Friday.
Ian McLaughlin delivered three singles and four runs batted in for the Knights (8-6), who built a 6-0 lead through 3 1/2 innings. Ben Ruvo went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Max Ruvo was 3-for-4 with two runs scored for West Essex.
Winning pitcher David Kolesar opened with three scoreless innings on the 85-degree day before finishing with eight strikeouts and two walks in 5 2/3 innings. He allowed three earned runs. Anthony Vassallo retired the last four batters to close it our for the Knights.
