Bederson Accounting Firm Hosts Annual Holiday Party at Crystal Plaza

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Bederson Accounting Firm, based in West Orange and Fairfield, recently hosted its annual holiday party at Crystal Plaza in Livingston in order to celebrate the holiday season among clients, business partners, staff members and their families.

For more than 25 years, the Bederson holiday party has been a highly anticipated event in the Essex County area, according to guests.

“It’s the event of the year,” said Jeffrey Kraft, a CPA firm consultant who has attended the event from more than 20 years. “I look forward to it more than any other event—and I get invited to a lot. This is my favorite accounting firm, they do a great job and I have some close personal friends here.”

Kraft said that in addition to the good people and good food, he enjoys the “low-key” environment of the annual event. Kenneth Winslow, CPA, PSA, a partner at Bederson, said the 125+ guests appreciate the opportunity to combine business and personal relationships in a casual atmosphere during the holidays.

“We’ve held a party to bring together our clients, our staff and their spouses for over 25 years,” said Winslow. “We connect our clients and their spouses with family members and other members of this firm. Many of our clients have found old friends that they didn’t know were with the firm and they’ve reconnected with them.”

It was also announced the same day that Tim Brennan, a tax manager at Bederson, was named as the new president of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce in 2017. Roger Schneider of Schneider Hardware, a West Orange chamber board member, said at the holiday celebration that both the Township of West Orange and the chamber of commerce are lucky to have Bederson LLP.

“The chamber is very fortunate for the third time around to have the benefit of not just another person from the firm, but the continued support of the firm,” said Schneider. “They’re one of the most important organizations that we have as part of the group. They contribute in so many ways and we’re happy that they’re not only working in West Orange but that they’re so involved in so many different organizations—more so than most businesses.”

In 2007, the litigation services division of Bederson LLP relocated to 347 Mt. Pleasant Avenue in West Orange; and in 2013, the accounting, auditing and tax departments moved to Passaic Avenue in Fairfield to allow for future expansion and efficiency among specialty teams.

Since then, Bederson has been named to the “Best of” class by the readers of the “New Jersey Law Journal” each year for placing in the top-three accounting firms in New Jersey for accounting services provided to the legal community.

As Bederson enters its 80th year in 2017, the firm continues to grow and innovate in response to both market and client needs with “a dynamic, well-integrated, multi-generational team,” according to the Bederson website. Click HERE to learn more.

Parting Advice from Four Decades on the Front Lines of Local News

November 11, 2017

In February 1978 I walked into the office of The Rahway News-Record and Clark Patriot to begin what I thought was to be a short-term job stepping stone.

Instead, it turned out to be a nearly 40-year odyssey in local journalism—including the last eight—overwhelmingly great—years with The Alternative Press (TapInto.Net).

I have decided it is time to spend more time in ...

The Last Game

My daughter recently played the last soccer game of her career.

Yippee!  No more practices!  No more tournaments!  No more long drives to obscure fields!  No more tiny black turf pellets all over the car!

No more selfish surges of pride watching her athletic achievements.  No more thrilling victories.

My daughter is a ...
