WAYNE, NJ - The West Essex boys basketball team jumped out to an early nine-point lead before Wayne Valley rallied for a 72-58 victory Thursday night.

Brett Reo scored 16 points for West Essex (11-11), which reeled off nine straight points to open the game.

Oliver Ortman scored 14 points and Zac Balz tossed in 13 for the Knights, who fell behind by 10 points by halftime. West Essex will head back to Wayne Township, this time to face Wayne Hills, in the opening round of the NJSIAA state tournament on Tuesday night.
