ESSEX COUNTY, NJ - The first-round state tournament games the West Essex and James Caldwell High School baseball teams were scheduled to play on Monday have been postponed until Tuesday afternoon.

West Essex, the 13th seed, will travel to Bergen County for a Section 1, Group 3 game against Old Tappan. Caldwell, the fourth seed, will host 13th-seeded Harrison in Section 2, Group 2. Both games are scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

West Essex (13-10) will hope to get continued strong offensive production from a batting order led by Zac Balz, Max Ruvo, Ben Ruvo, Ian McLaughlin and Matt Cesare. Pitcher David Kolesar (6-2) leads the Knights in victories and strikeouts (44), while Oliver Ortman (5-3, 2.29) has the top ERA on the staff.

Caldwell (17-6) has received tremendous production this season from Mike Cavallo (.486, 39 RBI) and Jon DeMattheis (.418, 41 RBI). Pitchers Bryce Bayard and Evan Dyer each have notched six victories for the Chiefs.
