CALDWELL, NJ - On Tuesday, the Borough of Caldwell Council approved a resolution awarding a contract to PSE&G Newark branch for the emergency power and land lease payments for the implementation of solar power at the Caldwell wastewater treatment plant.

The payments will be used to cover the installation and operation of a solar photovoltaic system - essentially, a solar panel array to convert sunlight into electrical current. The installation will ostensibly improve the energy efficiency and conservation ability of the plant. The wastewater treatment plant is a shared service among several area municipalities, and is located in West Caldwell.

“We’re going to set up a meeting to discuss things with West Caldwell,” Borough Administrator Paul Carelli said.

“Speaking for the environmental commission, I’d like to thank the Council for supporting this effort,” Councilman Kris Brown said.
