CALDWELL, NJ — Members of the Caldwell Huddle organized an event that recognized the importance of caring for the earth and the dangers of climate change on Saturday at Caldwell Town Green.

The Caldwell Huddle was created following this year’s election and focuses on many issues facing the world today. Previously, the group organized its own women’s march in conjunction with the march in Washington, D.C.

“This event is a follow up to the women’s march and it coincides with the march going on the Washington, D.C right now,” said Caldwell Huddle member Rae de la Cretaz. “We are here to help people register to vote also.”

Locals lined the street in front of the Caldwell Town Green with signs about climate change and other political issues. Some read, “honk if you love the earth” and “facts matter” while others criticized President Donald Trump and his policies.

Many cars passing down Bloomfield Avenue honked their horn and expressed their support for the participants.

Most individuals who turned out for this event expressed their dedication to educating the public about climate change.

“I’ve always been a social activist and I couldn’t go to Washington today for the march,” said Kim Shafer of Verona. “Each year climate change keeps increasing and if the world dies, nothing else matters.”

Others explained that it is just about making their voices heard. Caldwell Huddle member Diana Reyes said she became part of this group following this year’s election because she felt it was important to provide an opportunity for residents who are unable to travel to Washington, D.C. to stand up for causes important to them.

Information tables set up at the event included posters on topics such as global warming and the important role bees play in nature.

A Special Thank You For Helping Us Weather The Storm

June 18, 2018

About a month ago, on May 15, 2018, something happened to me and my family that changed our lives. An act of God, apparently a “microburst,” tore through our front yard, and uprooted an approximately 19,000 pound tree. The tree fell into my 8 month old’s bedroom destroying the entire structure of our home.

My husband, with what I call divine intervention, told us to go ...
