CALDWELL, NJ — The investigation into the vandalism done to the property at Lincoln Elementary School in Caldwell determined that the drawings were not directed at one person or group, according to Caldwell Police Chief James Bongiorno.

He also said it was not a bias incident but poor judgment by juveniles who will be educated on the serious nature of their actions.

“Now that the incident has been fully investigated, I would like to say that I was shocked and saddened to find playground equipment defaced by magic marker drawings depicting images of hate,” said Caldwell Mayor Ann Dassing. “There is no place in Caldwell for this and it is our hope that the juveniles involved will realize the gravity of their actions when they attend required classes to help them do so.”
