CALDWELL, NJ — During the first Sunday in October for the 25th consecutive year, the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs of Caldwell teamed up for the Caldwell Street Fair. Both clubs thanked all who participated in the “Silver Anniversary” of the Caldwell Rotary/Kiwanis Street Fair on Oct. 2.

Despite the rain, the street fair closed off a six-block area on Bloomfield Avenue from noon to 5 p.m. and filled it with nearly 200 crafters, vendors and food concessions.

“We were holding our breath because of the weather Sunday morning but once again, we had a great day at the fair,” said JoAnn Dixon of Caldwell Kiwanis. “The kids had a great time, folks found some terrific buys as they met with friends, ate ethnic foods and celebrated ‘Octoberfest’ in the beer garden.”

July 5, 2018

More than 240 years ago, our nation’s founders envisioned a country where individuals could forge their own destinies and not be constrained by the circumstances of birth. The essential concept was that people could govern themselves and participate in democracy, or what Benjamin Franklin and others called “a great experiment.” The vision was bold and has flourished as the ...

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
