“Were very excited to have them onboard,” Bongiorno said. “This is great group and I know that they are eager to serve the residents of Caldwell.”

“Anyone that volunteers for something like this is a special person.”

In response to an inquiry from Council President Richard Hauser about the auxiliary force’s numbers, Bongiorno noted that the Caldwell PD will now have eight members officers serving in an auxiliary capacity. he noted that five former members of the auxiliary police have decided to pursue law enforcement full time.

“It’s a good opportunity for people to serve the needs of the community and see if they want to [do police work] full time,” Bongiorno said.
