CALDWELL, NJ – Caldwell University freshmen Treston Forbes (Chicago, IL/St. Rita) and Victoria Thaler (Millville, NJ/Millville) were honored as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced its year-end awards for men’s and women’s track and field. Forbes was chosen the CACC Men’s Track Athlete and Rookie of the Year, while Thaler was named the conference’s Women’s Track Rookie of the Year. Both starred for Caldwell at the CACC Championships on May 3, with Forbes claiming two individual titles and a relay championship, and Thaler taking first or second in her three events.

According to Caldwell University, Forbes had an outstanding freshman year on the track, winning the 100 and 200 meters and helping the Cougars capture the 4x400 meter relay at the CACC Championships. He set then-season bests in winning the 100 in 10.93 and the 200 in 22.03, while also leading Caldwell to a third-place finish in the 4x100 meter relay. Also a high jumper, Forbes took third in the event at the CACC meet, clearing six feet. At the GCU Last Chance Meet on May 8, Forbes ran a 21.86 in the 200 for the fifth-fastest time in the East Region this season, earning him a spot on the USTFCCCA all-East Region team.

Thaler turned in two strong individual performances at the CACC meet, finishing second in both the 1500 meters and the 400 meter hurdles. Her time of 5:03.41 in the 1500 broke her own school record. Thaler helped the Cougars close out the meet with a thrilling victory in the 4x400 meter relay with a school-record time of 4:05.27, nearly five seconds faster than second-place Georgian Court. Earlier this season, Thaler broke school records in the 800 meters (2:22.70) and 400 meter hurdles (1:06.38), while contributing to program bests in the 4x800 relay (9:56.15) and 4x1500 relay (22:26.45). She was named the CACC and ECAC Rookie of the Week on Apr. 13.

Both of Caldwell’s men’s and women’s track teams finished in second place at the CACC Championships, held May 3 at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J.

Would Shedding

How much wood wouldn’t a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck woodn’t?

Enough already.

I get it.  It is an easy mistake to make, misusing would and wouldn’t.  It happens to me all the time.
