LIVINGSTON, NJ — After winning the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group 3 Tournament, the Super Essex Conference Championship and the Essex County Tournament Championship, the West Essex High School Girls’ Softball team was honored for its outstanding 2016 season at the July 7 meeting of the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders held at Livingston Town Hall.

The Board’s Commendations were sponsored and presented to the team coaches by District IV Freeholder Leonard Luciano of West Caldwell.

The West Essex Knights completed their season as the champions of the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 3 Tournament (NJSIAA), defeating Morris Hills on May 24, 10-0. This is the first time since 2010 that the Knights earned a state section championship title and also the first time since 2007 that they won the Essex County Championship.
