FAIRFIELD, NJ — A 21-year-old East Orange man was recently arrested in Fairfield for credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.
Police believe that on July 19, a North Caldwell man purchased food using a credit card at the Fairfield McDonald’s, where a man named Lory Neolien was employed. The next day, the victim was alerted that his credit card had been used at the West Caldwell ShopRite to purchase a gift card at around 7 a.m.
According to police, it was at that time that the victim realized his card was never returned to him at the McDonalds’ employee the previous evening, and that the transaction at the ShopRite was fraudulent. He then notified the Fairfield police.
Detective Jeffrey Didyk investigated the case and was able to tie Neolien to the use of the credit card using surveillance footage from the ShopRite. According to police, the surveillance video positively identified Neolien as the individual using the stolen credit card.
Neolien was arrested and transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility pending court action.
