FAIRFIELD, NJ - A 17 year old, whose identity is being withheld because of his status as a minor, was taken into custody on October 31, and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana.

On that date, at approximately 12:14 p.m., Officer Thomas Myers was dispatched to the Essex Campus Academy after it is alleged that school officials uncovered a small quantity of suspected marijuana in a student’s backpack. The juvenile was charged and eventually released into the custody of a guardian. The matter will be referred to the Essex County Family Court for adjudication.
