FAIRFIELD, NJ - The Fairfield Police Department announced the arrest of Juan Li, 36, of West Orange and Taozhu Li, 52, of Flushing, N.Y. for promoting and engaging in prostitution on Nov. 14.

On that date at approximately 1:41 p.m., an undercover officer entered an unnamed business located at 124 Little Falls Road allegedly engaging in unlicensed massage therapy and prostitution. As a result of the investigation, Fairfield detectives raided the location and made the arrests. The Fairfield PD was acting on information received from a concerned citizen, according to Deputy Chief Anthony Manna.

“This business was only operating for a few weeks before it came onto our radar and was closed down” said Manna. “This is a quality of life issue for our entire community and I am extremely proud on how swiftly our detectives were able to act.”

Both individuals were eventually released on their own recognizance pending an initial court appearance date of Nov. 20 in the Superior Court in Newark. Enforcement relating to the operation of a massage parlor in alleged violation of Fairfield local ordinance was referred to the township’s zoning official. The investigation was carried out by Sergeant Charles Zampino, Detective Robert Sanger, Detective Michael Nyhuis and Officer Christopher Andrews.
