FAIRFIELD, NJ -  Fairfield police are investigating a reported attack on a woman in the driveway of her Horseneck Road home on Thursday evening.

According to police, at approximately 9:51 p.m. the Fairfield Police Department received a 911 call regarding an unknown suspect who assaulted the homeowner while she was exiting her vehicle in the driveway.

"The victim screamed for help and dialed 911 while fighting with the actor," police said. "The actor fled the scene on foot when another individual came out to see what was going on."

Officers arrived and set up a perimeter to search the area with the assistance of the North Caldwell and Montville police departments.

According to police, the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including abrasions and cuts as a result of the assault. Police say that the crime, which remains under investigation, was not a robbery and was also not "sexual in nature."
