FAIRFIELD, NJ — The sun shone on Friday as the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department surprised Adlai E. Stevenson School students with a splashdown at its annual Stevenson Fun Day to commemorate the end of the school year.
Firefighter Dan Alberti, who has two children at Stevenson—Daniella, 6, and AJ, 9—said that this was the Volunteer Fire Department's first year participating at Fun Day and the members really enjoyed being a part of the day.
"We set up the bucket with the sprinkler for the kids to run through and they had a great time," said Alberti. "We are happy to volunteer at the school for such a great event for the kids."
The annual Fun Day also included activities like freeze tag, carnival games and giant inflatables.
Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna was also on hand at Fun Day to ensure everyone's safety.
"Due to the recent coyote attack [Thursday] evening, we have stationed armed police officers around the perimeter of the school to ensure the safety of the the children, staff and volunteers at today's fun event," said Manna.
