Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department's Annual Santa Run Happening Dec. 20

FAIRFIELD, NJ - The Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department's Annual Santa Run is taking place on Sunday, Dec. 20, starting at 10 a.m., where Santa will be riding through the streets of Fairfield on a fire truck for all to see. And, they are ready for the holiday season— the department recently decorated Station #2.

The Fire Department said, “Please listen for the fire truck siren, with Santa and his firefighter friends to follow, as they make their way around the streets of Fairfield.”

The Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department is 100 percent volunteer, and is on call 24-hours-a-day, 365-days per year to lend assistance to members of the community.

Right now, the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department is having its Annual Fund Drive. For over 100 years, the members of the community have generously supported the annual fund drive, according to the Fire Department.

“We ask you to continue that tradition today,” said the department on its website. “You donations directly support Fireman's Hall, recruitment and retention and many of our training initiatives.
Through continued recruitment efforts this past year, we have added an additional six members to the Department. Several of these individuals transferred from other agencies when they moved into Fairfield, bringing training and experience not often found with new members.”

“Additionally, several second and even third generation firefighters have joined our ranks this year,” they added.

This year, the Fire Department increased its rating with the Insurance Service Office (ISO).
The Department is currently certified with a Public Protection Class Four rating, increasing from a Class Five. The rating is based on items like personnel, training, equipment, 911 service and water supply.

“The result is that if you insurance company utilizes ISO ratings to set insurance rates, you might see a reduction in you premium,” said the department on its site.

“Firefighters as a group are not very good at asking others for the additional financial help, yet your support is critical to us,” they wrote. “All we ask is that you utilize our secured on-line donation form HERE. Thank you for your support.”
