WEST CALDWELL, NJ - The Caldwell football team held Newark West Side scoreless for three quarters and went on to a 15-6 victory in its opening game Friday night.

James T. Miller scored on a 2-yard TD run in the first quarter and the Chiefs went for two, extending their lead to 8-0 on Pat Theobald's conversion run.

Brian Clarkin cracked in from 2 yards away in the third quarter, then Anthony Costigan kicked the PAT as Caldwell extended its advantage to 15-0.

Caldwell's defense was unscored upon in the game. West Side's only TD came on a 65-yard return of a fumble in the fourth quarter.
