VERONA, NJ - The West Essex girls basketball team built a 14-point halftime lead on its way to a 39-25 victory over Verona Thursday afternoon.

Nicole Realbuto scored 14 points to lead West Essex, which outscored Verona, 12-5, in the first quarter and 11-4 in the second. The interior play of Rachel Mintz, who blocked three shots, and Brielle Krause, who grabbed seven rebounds, played a key role for the Lady Knights.

West Essex improved to 11-2 on the season and 8-0 in the conference. The Lady Knights have a non-conference meeting Saturday at 11 a.m. with Clifton on the road.
