Ice Hockey: West Essex Loses to Summit, 2-1

ROSELLE, NJ - The West Essex High School ice hockey team was held scoreless for the first two periods and endured its first loss of the season, 2-1, to Summit on Tuesday night at Warinanco Rink.

With West Essex (2-1) trailing, 2-0, Frank Ferrante broke through with a power play goal with 7:18 remaining in the third period. He got assists from Aidan Pero and Connor Barnette on the play.

Kavan Johnson faced 40 shots in goal for the Knights and made 38 saves. West Essex, which was outshot, 40-25, is back in action Friday night at 6:45 p.m. against A.L. Johnson of Clark at South Mountain Arena in West Orange.
