James Caldwell High School Earns 3-0 Victory Over Vernon

VERNON, NJ — A goal a piece from James Caldwell’s Emily Blankenship, Leanna Rebimbas and Caroline Rubin led the girls varsity soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Vernon on Wednesday.

Caldwell goalie Phoebe Bledsoe was also a key player in the victory over Vernon this week, keeping the home team at bay with 10 saves throughout the game.

“We are playing our best soccer of the year right now and we've really jelled and come together,” said Caldwell head coach Mike Teshkoyan. “The girls are playing with a lot of passion and enthusiasm and it's good to see them having so much fun.”

Senior captain Rubin, with 23 goals this season, and sophomore striker Rebimbas, with 26, are currently the highest-scoring duo in Chiefs history, according to Teshkoyan.

“We've never had a pair score as many as they have this year,” said Teshkoyan. “They are in the top 15 in the state and they are a big reason why we've been so successful in what we thought would be a rebuilding year. That and senior captain and keeper Phoebe Bledsoe in goal, who is currently No. 4 in the states in saves.”
