WEST CALDWELL, NJ — The James Caldwell High School Girls Swimming team edged out West Essex High School with a 110-60 victory to bring home the program’s first sectional title on Thursday.

In the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Public C final at the Raritan Bay YMCA, the Chiefs were one of four Public C sectional champions, including Mountain Lakes, Metuchen and Haddonfield.

In Thursday’s meet, Caldwell’s Linnea Endersby won the 100 free with a time of 58.58, Elizabeth Murray came in first in the 500 free with a time of 5:42.73, and senior Grace Endersby won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.68.

Although West Essex won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:52.49, Caldwell took a 93-45 lead in the 100 back and won the 400 free relay with a time of 4:02.09 to take home the victory.

The Chiefs have been one of the top girls’ swimming teams in Essex County for several years. This latest victory will put them on the statewide radar for the Public C.
