NEWARK – In March 2010, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert L. Laurino announced the arrest of Preye L. Roberts, now age 28, of Nutley in connection with the alleged shooting of Fairfield Police Officer Gerald Veneziano on Jan. 30, 2010 in Fairfield.

According to NJ.com, psychologist Joel Morgan gave the opinion in court last week that Roberts had recently been faking psychiatric symptoms; however, due to his history of mental health problems he could not determine if Roberts would be able to stand trial.

In 2010, Roberts was charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. If convicted of all charges Roberts will face 30 years in prison.

After much investigation, the task force was notified by Union County law enforcement that they arrested Roberts during a Feb. 13 incident where he allegedly fired a weapon on Route 22.  During the arrest, police found him in possession of 9mm ammunition.  This information was entered into the database and then discovered as a match for the case.

For the time being, Roberts is being held at the Ann Klein Forensic Center in Ewing.

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
