Pharmacie Liquor Bar adjacent to the Wellmont now open in Montclair.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Named in honor of the historic Wellmont Pharmacy that once flanked the entrance to the iconic theater, Pharmacie Liquor Bar, located at the corner of Seymour Street and Bloomfield Avenue, in the heart of downtown Montclair is now open for business.

Led by Executive Chef Nick Greiss, a Nutley native and graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Pharmacie represents Greiss’ first endeavor as Executive Chef. Greiss developed a solid reputation for his dedication to farm-to-table delivery while serving as the Executive Sous Chef at the Common Lot. Griess’ vision for culinary execution includes a dedication to using high-quality ingredients, local sourcing when possible, and culinary creativity lending a modern twist to bar classics.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to elevate traditional bar food to something more on par with the world-class entertainment our guests are coming to enjoy," he said. "From our brussel sprout flatbread, to pork belly sliders, and our amazing classic and modern cocktails, Pharmacie Liquor Bar will provide a fresh take on a traditional bar experience creating a downtown draw for concert-goers and locals alike.”

Two bar areas and 100-seats will be anchored by a team of two resident bartenders including Robert Vrancken III and Leah Castellazzo, who are the driving force behind Pharmacie Liquor Bar’s mixology program.

“We want to keep the atmosphere casual, unpretentious, and welcoming for everyone while providing food, drinks, and service at an extremely high standard,” said Robert Vracken, resident bartender at Pharmacie Liquor Bar. "There is a nice beer and wine selection, but the bar team here will emphasize creating classics and modern cocktails to pair with Chef Nick's formidability and vision in the kitchen. Nick, Leah, the rest of the team, and myself will all push each other creatively and constructively to build something special."

Originally designed as a complementary experience for concert-goers, Pharmacie Liquor Bar now makes it possible to bring top-shelf cocktails from the Pharmacie into the Wellmont to combine world-class music, food and beverages into a singular entertainment experience on concert nights while creating a warm, welcoming watering hole for locals all-year round.

Pharmacie Liquor Bar, located at 398 Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with the bar remaining open until 1:30 a.m. On Sunday, the kitchen is open from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. with the bar remaining open until 11:30 p.m.

Pharmacie Liquor Bar will be open for brunch starting in the spring of 2018. For more information please visit www.PharmacieLiquorBar.com, or call (973)968-5303. Follow Pharmacie Liquor Bar on Facebook at Pharmacie Liquor Bar, on Instagram @pharmacieliquorbar, or on Twitter @PharmacieBarNJ.

Let the Games Begin

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.
