NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — The school search platform this week published its 2021 ranking of Best Public High Schools, and West Essex High School scored high in Essex County's rankings.

West Essex High School was rated No. 5 among public schools in Essex County and 12th among all Essex County high schools.  

West Essex has 1,123 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 11:1. It has a 97 percent graduation rate and an average SAT score of 1,220 among its students.

It was also ranked No. 4 out of 622 among the Best High Schools for Athletes in New Jersey.

Newark Academy was the top-ranked school in Essex County. Millburn was the top-ranked public high school in the county.
