NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — North Caldwell Mayor Alessi, members of the borough council, borough employees, members of the North Caldwell Recreation Foundation (NCRF) and members of Flanagan Construction broke ground on a new turf field at Liberty Field.
“The construction of the turf field is a great & much needed addition to our town," said Alessi. "It was the borough’s collaboration with the North Caldwell Recreation Foundation (a private-public initiative) which made this dream a reality. It will be great for our youngest residents and that is what it is all about."
The field is expected to be completed in spring of 2019 and the projected cost is 1.412 million, he added. Construction is being completed by Flanagan's Contracting Group of Hillsborough, NJ.
North Caldwell recreation sports will be using other borough facilities (Magnusson Field and Mountain Avenue Field) in addition to other broader West Essex towns (Essex Fells, Roseland, etc.) that are part of the same recreation and travel sports community while turf is under construction.
This initiative was spearheaded by the North Caldwell Recreation Foundation and supported by the mayor and council as well as a strong portion of the community. The field will provide support (with appropriate lining and spectator access) for a variety of sports, including soccer (small- and large-sided), baseball, softball, lacrosse and field hockey).
