LIVINGSTON, NJ — To supplement its regular monthly resource breakfast for the benefit of members and potential new members, the Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) also provides afternoon and evening networking opportunities through the monthly “After Hours” meet-up and the monthly “Lunch and Learn.”

In June, members and non-members of the Livingston, North Essex, West Orange, Millburn/Short Hills, South Orange, and Maplewood Chambers of Commerce enjoyed networking over dinner and live music at the LACC's annual “Multi-Chamber” BBQ held at Livingston Bagel.

“Along with our regular resource breakfast meetings we have each month, we wanted to offer other times our members can come out and receive the benefits of what the chamber can offer its members,” said LACC President Ira Drucks.

The LACC’s multi-chamber networking barbecue, sponsored by Livingston Bagel, Regal Bank, George Press, Jan Press, Minuteman Press, RWJBarnabas Health, was hosted on the front patio of Livingston Bagel on June 13.

“The BBQ was a fun networking event,” said Beth Lippman, LACC executive director. “It was a ‘Joint’ Chamber event that brought members from the surrounding chambers of commerce. It is a great opportunity for chamber members to interact and meet members of other chambers that they wouldn’t necessarily meet through their chamber meetings.”

A few days prior, the West Essex YMCA hosted the LACC's monthly resource breakfast by providing members with a full-body workout on June 8. Cheryl Francione, YMCA associate executive director, presented a demonstration of the Y’s TRX Suspension Trainer and Rip Trainer, which are combined for a workout designed to work the core muscles as well as increase strength.

“The Y breakfast was a fun, interactive event,” said Lippman. “Members had an opportunity to use the equipment and get help from the staff.”

Hate Trumps Love

September 19, 2017

This letter is in response to Karen Egert's letter, "President Trump has abandoned the country," dated September 11, 2017.

I find it interesting that Karen only saw the violence from the 'alt-right,' over the course of one day, but did not see, or refuses to acknowledge all the violence from the alt-left' over the past several years - from the occupy ...

U.S. Air Traffic Control Isn’t Working; Here's How to Fix it

September 13, 2017

For over 30 years the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has tried – and failed –to modernize America’s woefully dysfunctional air traffic control system (ATC). It is time to get ATC out from under the thumbs of federal bureaucrats and partisan politicians, and create a completely new structure that will get U.S. air traffic moving.

American ATC is stuck in the 1950s.

I am worried that my genetic Neanderthal variant might be embarrassingly high.

Given my personality, this might not seem an unreasonable fear.  But I really don’t want it proven without a doubt by a rigorous analysis of my DNA.  That is why I am reluctant to subject myself to the many personal genetic testing services that are on the market today.
