North Essex Chamber of Commerce to Honor Members and Local Students at Annual Leadership Banquet Thursday


WEST ORANGE, NJ — The North Essex Chamber of Commerce (NECC) will celebrate its members and two local students when it hosts its annual Leadership Banquet at Wilshire Grand Hotel, located at 350 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange, on Thursday, June 9.

From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., members and guests will enjoy a Leadership Banquet cocktail hour with wine, beer and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a sit-down dinner with cash bar until 9 p.m.

The 2016 Leadership Banquet ceremony will recognize some of this year’s outstanding members with awards, present scholarships to two local students and induct the new North Essex Chamber of Commerce Board Directors for the upcoming term.

The businesses and individuals being honored are selected by NECC members. Those being recognized this year are:

  • President’s Award: Barbara Ruiz, C3 Workplace & Kaitlin Kurdyla, Montclair State Conference Services
  • Outstanding Business Award: Kearny Bank
  • Outstanding Non Profit Award: Toni’s Kitchen
  • Outstanding Chamber Member Awards: Danielle Deptula, Kearny Bank & Oana Drew, Minuteman Press Caldwell
  • Outstanding Community Leader Award: Dennis Klein, Rand Fuer & Klein

“This event enables us to be together to recognize and thank members of the community for their outstanding service during the past year”, shared Holly Kaplansky, President of the North Essex Chamber of Commerce. “It’s our honor and privilege to award the scholarships at this event as well.”

Showing pride in its community each year, North Essex Chamber Foundation also funds scholarships for graduating high school students. The Foundation earns the funds from several fundraising events, including Taste of Essex among others.

The scholarship recipients were chosen among qualifying high school seniors at schools within the towns served by the North Essex Chamber. Candidates were judged based on academics, extracurricular activities, economic need, work experience, volunteerism, recommendations and a 500-word essay.
