Pair Charged with Two Days of Shoplifting at Fairfield Target

FAIRFIELD, NJ — The Target store located on Route 46 East in Fairfield fell victim to shoplifting once again on Tuesday when Matthew Richardson, 28, of Bloomfield and Anna Ambrosio, 25, of Little Falls were identified as the two individuals attempting to leave the store with unpaid-for merchandise two consecutive days.

Fairfield officers Jeffrey Dean and Frank Tracey were dispatched to the area at approximately and observed a black 2014 Volkswagon Jetta in the parking lot later found to be operated by Ambrosio. They then met an asset protection representative inside who said an individual, identified as Richardson, had placed several items valued at approximately $900 into a shopping cart and began making his way toward the exit.

As Richardson got close to the doors, Target agents said he took the items out of the cart and began to make his way outside, but was apprehended by the agents. According to the officers, they discovered suspected drug paraphernalia in Richardson’s possession upon his arrest.

According to police, the Target agents believed Richardson and an unknown female were also involved in a shoplifting incident the previous day. They said the female, later identified as Ambrosio, took some of the same items that Richardson was trying to steal in the same manner and was then seen entering a black Volkswagon Jetta. Target officials were unable to apprehend them at the time and they got away.

Upon hearing this information, officers went to see if Ambrosio was still outside in the Volkswagon, but she was no longer there. Richardson was transported to headquarters for processing. Officers then contacted Ambrosio and she later surrendered herself.

Richardson and Ambrosio were each charged with two counts of shoplifting as well as two counts of conspiracy to commit shoplifting. In addition, Richardson was also charged with a single count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ambrosio was released on her own recognizance while Richardson was transported to the Essex County Jail for the Fairfield charges and for being wanted by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.

A Special Thank You For Helping Us Weather The Storm

June 18, 2018

About a month ago, on May 15, 2018, something happened to me and my family that changed our lives. An act of God, apparently a “microburst,” tore through our front yard, and uprooted an approximately 19,000 pound tree. The tree fell into my 8 month old’s bedroom destroying the entire structure of our home.

My husband, with what I call divine intervention, told us to go ...
