WEST CALDWELL, NJ — Prelude to a Cure, the area’s leading non-profit dedicated to the support of lung cancer research and awareness, is holding its annual 5K Trail Run/Walk to support lung cancer research, in memory of Verona resident Patricia Glennon on Saturday, May 13 at the Hilltop Reservation.

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at the parking lot off of Courter Lane in North Caldwell. Once again, this year’s proceeds will be donated to Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s lung cancer research program.

Last year’s 5K event brought in more than 100 participants. This year’s 5K Run includes a live DJ, prizes, raffles and more. A $25 advance entry fee includes a t-shirt, snacks and water.

Sign-ups the day of the event will be $30 and all participants will receive a SPF15 lip balm from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Guests are invited to run, walk or cheer on the participants. Dogs are also welcome.

Prelude to a Cure was founded by Claire Mattern

“Unfortunately, people don't realize that lung cancer is the top cancer killer for men and women,” said Mattern. “So we're trying to raise awareness as well as funds for research."

Over the past five years, Prelude to a Cure has donated thousands to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The proceeds from the 5K Run/Walk for a Cure through Essex County’s Hilltop Reservation will be donated to support cutting-edge lung cancer research in honor of board member Brian Glennon's mother, who lost her fight against lung cancer in March of 2015.

The event is sponsored by Brian and Elisse Glennon.

A Special Thank You For Helping Us Weather The Storm

June 18, 2018

The tree fell into my 8 month old’s bedroom destroying the entire structure of our home.

My husband, with what I call divine intervention, told us to go ...
