COLUMBUS, NJ - Reanda Richards finished second in two events to highlight the performances of the West Essex boys' and girls' track teams on Saturday at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions at Northern Burlington High School.

Richards placed second in both the 400-meter dash and the 400-meter hurdles. In the 400-meter dash, Richards ran a time of 54.98. She clocked in at 59.09 in the 400 hurdles. In each case, the only runner to beat her was legendary U.S. Olympian Sydney McLaughlin of Union Catholic, who had a time of 51.91 in the 400-meter dash and 56.97 in the 400 hurdles.

The West Essex girls team of Hailey Blum, Gabriela Karch, Alexia Perez, Richards, Nina Ward, Brianna Convertino and Jenna Chan ran a 3:55.55 in the 4x400 meter relay to place 12th.

For the West Essex boys at the Meet of Champions, Anthony Steets came in 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.19. West Essex came in 13th in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:21.40, with Steets part of a team that also included Michael Keller, Drew Lepre, Liam Fost, Jake Siciliano, Sameeh Zakkour and Matthew Chang
