Regular Spring Water Flushing Continues in Essex Fells

ESSEX FELLS, NJ — The Essex Fells Borough Water Department continues its spring hydrant flushing program this week.

Started on April 11, the project will continue through April 22. Water department personnel will be flushing hydrants on weekday evenings from 7:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Flushing began near Stocker Road and is progressing through the borough moving westward. The program is required as part of preventative maintenance for the water distribution system and also is a test of all fire hydrants .

TIP: residents are asked to make sure their water is running clear before using it for cooking. Also, clear lines before doing laundry, as residue in the water lines might stain clothes.

Any questions can be directed toward the water department at 973-226-8582 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
