ROSELAND, NJ — The Roseland Girl Scout Troop 20194 painted Halloween-themed scenes on the windows of about a dozen local businesses in the town last Saturday.

The girls painted local restaurants, shops, a library and daycare center. The troop is going to clean up the paint off the windows on Nov. 7, two weeks after the event.

Shaili Shah, a Girl Scout Cadette, has taken a lead on this project. She is working towards her Silver Award, which gives her an opportunity to be a leader by making a positive impact on the community. To earn the Silver Award, one must complete 50 hours working toward a goal. Shaili picked this project with a goal to "create community spirit during the holiday season especially during the pandemic" and to "make a positive impact in the community."

She aims to continue with this project in the future, and ultimately pass this service down to younger troops in coming years.

"This event would not have been possible without the efforts from my troop members, and I am thankful for Mrs. Eileen Stewart, my troop leader for her advice and guidance from planning to executing this event," Shah said.
