ROSELAND, NJ — Young Roseland resident Claire Steiner recently nominated her mother, Lauren Steiner, for 2018 Mother of the Year by writing a letter to the Roseland Recreation Department stating that her mother “works hard, makes lots of money, makes delicious food for breakfast, lunch and dinner” and does other motherly acts that inspired the mayor and council to proclaim Lauren Steiner as Roseland’s Mother of the Year on Tuesday.
“She makes me happy when I’m sad, she always does fun stuff with me and my life would not be the same without my mom in it,” Claire wrote as part of the borough’s Mother of the Year Essay Contest.
Claire hugged her mother as Mayor John Duthie presented Lauren with the official proclamation acknowledging her accomplishment.
“Thank you to my kids because without them I wouldn’t be here,” said Lauren, who is pictured above with her daughter, Duthie and recreation director Michael Colitti.
Duthie added that the council has many fun events coming up for the Mother of the Year to participate in.
