CALDWELL, NJ - The Rotary Club of the Caldwells honored members of the West Essex First Aid Squad with the “Service Above Self” Award on December 30 at The Cloverleaf Tavern.

“The Club has supported the WEFAS since 1971,” former Rotary Club President Sam Kent said. “Often volunteers never receiver thanks and this is our way to say that.”

The West Essex First Aid Squad is an entirely volunteer organization that serves the Caldwells, Essex Fells and Fairfield. All volunteers are certified Emergency Medical Technicians. The squad relies on charitable donations for maintenance.

“Considering the training, certification, hours of involvement and the situations they encounter when responding to an emergency, West Essex First Aid Squad volunteers are incredibly committed, dedicated and special people,” Kent said.
