NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - West Essex scored all its runs in the first inning and held on for a 3-2 softball victory over Chatham on Wednesday.

Bridget Betley pitched a four-hitter for the victory. She struck out five and walked three.

Alexa Vardiman and Julia Vardiman each went 2-for-4 for the Lady Knights (7-1), and they both knocked in runs in the opening inning. Lilly James also had two hits in three at-bats for West Essex. Chatham is 6-2.
