NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - Undefeated West Essex overcame an early four-run deficit to rally for a 7-5 softball victory over Nutley on Monday.

Nutley (1-2) scored four runs in the top of the first inning before West Essex came back with one run in the bottom of the inning and then six more runs in the second inning. Alexa Vardiman went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI for West Essex (6-0).

Amanda Schwartz allowed four hits in five innings for her first victory, and Sami Huetter pitched two perfect innings for the save. Julia Vardiman drove in two runs with a single and a double.
