FAIRFIELD, NJ — Scott Lantzman, the new “Face of Fun” at FunTime Junction in Fairfield, is no stranger to youth programming and children’s entertainment. As the entertainment center’s new owner, Lantzman brings more than 20 years of expertise as a camp director to amping up the fun at FunTime Junction.

When Lantzman took over ownership of FunTime Junction in April of 2017, it was already an established children’s entertainment location in need of a “fun lift.” He went to work immediately, investing time and funds into completely updating the arcade games and bounce house as well as purchasing new rocking chairs, ovens and ceiling fans, implementing a new menu with healthy options and more.

In addition to the already existing multi-level softplay climbscape, helicopter ride and laser tag arena to name a few, Lantzman has continued to add even more fun to the establishment, including FunTime Freddy's FunHouse, an enhanced bounce house complete with a basketball game, bumpers and a giant slide. Guests can also enjoy the new Beam Interactive floor projection game and sweet treats from Sweet Amanda's candy buffet.

The floor projection game is a multiplayer interactive video game that rotates through more than 20 different games every two minutes, Lantzman explained. He also said more games are coming, and that his team is constantly looking for new ways to improve and add comfort for parents.

The owner also recently took advantage of an opportunity to enhance the birthday party experience at FunTime Junction. In the past, four birthday parties would be held simultaneously and it would often become crowded, Lantzman said. Today, two parties are arranged every hour and are staggered so that partygoers and the guest of honor are able to better enjoy themselves.

One of the biggest changes, Lantzman explained, is a simple game card swipe-system that has replaced the former tokens and tickets.

"The old token system was very time consuming for parents, and a card helps make the transaction much cleaner and easier," he said. “Tokens are no longer jamming, tickets running out are no longer a concern, and there is no line or maintenance required at the ‘Ticket Eater.’ In addition, the game cards are much easier to carry around in a wallet than a big bag of tokens.”

Lantzman's efforts were quickly recognized throughout the community. In 2017, FunTime Junction was awarded the 2017 Best of Essex gold medal for “Best Children’s Party Place” by Suburban Essex Magazine and was also the winner of the 2017 Mommy Poppins Bestie Award.

FunTime Junction can also be an enjoyable experience for older children and adults alike, according to Lantzman, with updated games and fun additions like the floor projection game and a section for children to build a “stuffed buddy.”

FunTime Junction is part of the Healthy Child Zone® Program, and a terminal disinfection and long-term antimicrobial coating of all the games, rides, party rooms, bathrooms and food court has been performed. According to Lantzman, this service creates the most-germ-free activity center for kids in Northern New Jersey.

FunTime Junction has been a rite of passage in the community since 1994, but had been in need of a facelift, according to Lantzman.

"Since our purchase in April of 2017, we have continued to reinvest everything into upgrading the facility," he said. "Our guests have taken notice of the hard work and have responded very positively online with tremendous feedback on both Google and Facebook."
