ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Three wrestlers from Caldwell High School competed in the 2017 NJSIAA Individual Wrestling State Championships at Boardwalk Hall over the weekend.

Junior Gerald Jones (152 pounds), senior Christian Dalla Riva (182 pounds) and junior John Murphy (285 pounds) were each apart of the 448-member field in this year’s tournament, the largest group of wrestlers to compete in New Jersey state tournament history.

Jones had the best finish of the three going 3-2 to finish the season with a 31-11 record. Jones won his opening match as the No. 23 seed by 4-0 decision. Sent to the wrestlebacks, he won twice before falling in the match that would have earned Jones a medal.
