FAIRFIELD, NJ — As a result of a tractor-trailer that took down a low-hanging wire at approximately 12:38 p.m. on Monday on Passaic Avenue in the area of Pier Lane West, a utility pole was also pulled down across Passaic Avenue and a solar light panel that was attached to the pole became impaled in the trailer of the truck.

According to the Fairfield Police Department, which responded to the scene alongside the Fairfield Fire Department, Passaic Avenue was closed for 90 minutes while utility crews worked to shut power down and to clean up the debris associated with the crash. The road was reopened at approximately 2:10 p.m., police said.

The driver of the truck was identified as John Prato of Passaic and the tractor is owned by Trade Show Technologies of West Caldwell. The above photos were provided by the Fairfield Police Department.
