NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - West Essex High School band members Timothy Ruszala and Brian Gieger have been selected to perform in the North Jersey Region I Band by the North Jersey School Music association.
Ruszala, a junior from Fairfield, will play the bassoon, while Gieger, a senior from Roseland, will play the tuba. Ruszala finished first in the regional audition for the bassoon section; Gieger finished second for the tuba section. Both students will perform with the rest of their peers on at the NJSMA band concert on Feb. 1 at 3:00 p.m., which is taking place at Randolph High School.
"This is a very high achievement for our students and they now have the opportunity to try out for the All-State Band," said West Essex High School Band Director John Scozzaro.
