NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - On Thursday, West Essex girls basketball lost to Wayne Hills at home, 55-34.
 
Wayne was ahead by seven points at the half, and was again ahead 36-21 in the third quarter, scoring 19 points in the final quarter for the win, 55-34.
 
 
Shannon Bertscha scored 12 points for West Essex and made two 3-pointers. Michelle Inga and Sabrina Saccente scored six points apiece.
 
Wayne’s Amanda LaGuardia and Taylor Rodriquez each scored 14 points, with LaGuardia making four 3-pointers.
 
West Essex next plays at Newark Tech on Feb. 3, at 5:30 p.m.
