WEST CALDWELL, NJ — A house fire at 21 Elmoood Terrace that was called in by a neighbor on Monday, May 16 is under investigation by West Caldwell Fire Chief James Alvine.
No one was hurt in this incident, as the occupants of the house were evacuated.
According to Alvine, a neighbor called into the West Caldwell Fire Department reporting flames on the side of that house at approximately 5 p.m. on Monday.
“I arrived on scene and took command, as the B side and rear side of the house were burning from the outside,” said Alvine.
Alvine said firemen arrived and hooked up to a hydrant to stretch a hand line to the exterior rear of the building. The hand line was used to extinguish the fire, according to the department, however, the fire started to spread into the eves of the dwelling.
Assited by the Caldwell Fire Department and the West Essex First Aid Squad, along with Verona Fire Department as a RIC team, the West Caldwell Fire Department stopped the fire at the eves and limited the damage to the interior of the home to just smoke and water.
