NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - Many West Essex High School students who play video games had no idea that the creator of some of the most popular award-winning games is a graduate of West Essex. Originally from Roseland, video game designer Glen Schofield came back to visit his high school to share with students on April 23. Schofield has designed Dead Space and Call of Duty:MW3.

The 1979 West Essex graduate, a video game designer for 23 years, decided he wanted to “give back” to his high school by sharing his artistic journey. He has won numerous awards- including Best Action Game of the Year for Dead Space and Call of Duty: MW3.

Schofield attributes his success and inspiration back to his former art teacher, the late Mr. Bobrow, and the education he received at West Essex. Schofield presents his work all over the world and recently presented the keynote speech at the Game Developers Conference in India and most recently the DICE Awards show in Las Vegas, where he also presented the award for Best Action Game. He has worked with numerous celebrities and has appeared on the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, Spike TV, G4, and the Scy Fy Channel. He co-founded Sledgehammer Games about 4 years ago after serving as a Vice President at Electronic Arts.
