West Essex Athletic Program Receives Sportsmanship Award

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - The athletics program at West Essex High School (WEHS) was awarded the 2013-14 Sportsmanship Award by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Association.

Representatives from the Knights' home conference, the Super Essex Conference (SEC), made the recommendation to the NJSIAA. The recommendation was based on feedback and discussion with peer schools from the SEC, acording to West Essex Athletic Director Damion Macioci. The NJSIAA delivered a banner to WEHS to commemorate the achievement.

"This award is a direct reflection of our coaches, always instilling principles of good sportsmanship in our players," Macioci said. "Their leadership and willingness to set a positive example as coaches, contributed to this great accomplishment."

The banner will be displayed in the main gymnasium.
