CALDWELL, NJ – West Essex football team hosted Orange on Friday night and took the win with a final score of 20-14.
In the first quarter, Brian O’Neill put 7 points on the board for West Essex with an 8-yard touchdown. Orange quickly got in the game when Tyrese Harris made a touch down by catching a 77-yard kickoff and leaving the teams tied for half time.
Orange took the lead in the third quarter, when Rasheed Boyd scored a 2-yard touch-down. With no score made by either team in the third quarter, Orange entered the fourth quarter with a 14-6 lead.
Then, Vincent Scaglia scored a 7-yard touchdown from a pass by Zach Lemanski, bringing West Essex back in the game, but with a two point deficit.
With only minutes left in the game, O’Neill ran 40 yards to score his second touchdown of the game for West Essex making the final score 20-14 for the second win this season.
West Essex will be away next Friday Sep. 30 for a rivalry game at James Caldwell.
