NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - West Essex Middle School eighth grade Spanish students participated in a live Poetry Summit on April 30 with schools from Canada, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Hawaii and New Jersey.

"Our Middle School students were the only students who recited poetry in Spanish," said Spanish Teacher Raquel Williams. “You’ve no idea the impact this created for my students. They had a clear example that studying Spanish can and should go beyond classroom walls.”

Student Lauren Auriemma said she and her friends had fun at the summit. "We all came together for the universal love of poetry," she said.

Paige Wasserman said she enjoyed working together with her friends.
