NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - West Essex Middle School seventh grade students combined dance and music to create unique routines in Donna Mateyka's Music 7 Exploratory classes. The students divided into groups and used different color Boomwhackers which feature different sounds to create a variety of routines.

All of the students used several class periods to create a program combining music and movement. Fairfield seventh graders Johnny Scrivo, Michael Jannicelli, Nick DeSantis and Matthew Mierzwa together prepared a routine for the class.

The groups then performed their final routines for Mateyka and the rest of their class in the middle school auditorium. Roseland’s Trevor Jadwabnick, along with Anthony Melillo, Brian Kendall and Ryan Rusignuolo, all of Fairfield, performed their boomwhacker routine together.
